Joan Chandos Baez is an American folk singer, activist, and influential figure in the 1960s folk movement. Her music, which often includes protest songs, has impacted both folk and rock 'n' roll. Baez has performed for over 60 years and released more than 30 albums. She started performing at the Newport Folk Festival in 1959 and is known for influential protest songs like "Oh, Freedom". Baez also played a key role in Bob Dylan's rise to popularity.
